A Place to Bury Strangers, Bleeding Rainbow, DJ Peroxide Agenda Early Warnings (Music) Member Picks Recommended Soundboard

When: Wed., Nov. 14, 9:30 p.m. 2012

Last year Philadelphia psych-garage-pop duo Reading Rainbow expanded into a trio and changed their name to Bleeding Rainbow. "We were sick of being named after a children's t.v. show," they wrote at the time. "[Bleeding Rainbow] is trippy as shit." (Plus they'll avoid the inevitable cease-and-desist letter from LeVar Burton.) Fortunately they haven't messed with the musical formula I was first exposed to via the 2010 HoZac LP Prism Eyes: pop that's sweet but not twee, its healthy dose of 90s alt-jangle submerged in a matrix of noisy psychedelia that's, well, trippy as shit. They're in the process of releasing a triptych of seven-inches for their new label, Kanine Records, and a teaser track on Kanine's Soundcloud has me looking forward to the January release of their Yeah Right LP. —Miles Raymer A Place to Bury Strangers headlines; Bleeding Rainbow and DJ Peroxide open. $12
