Jennifer Westfedlt may be most famous now as the longtime squeeze of Mad Men star Jon Hamm, but she's also a damn good actor and writer, dispensing an assured Manhattan comedy of manners in movies like Ira & Abby (2006) and Kissing Jessica Stein (2001). Her directing debut is a funny and emotionally credible story of old college friends (Westfeldt and the underrated Adam Scott) who decide to have a baby together while maintaining their single lives. The two couples they've hung out with for years (Hamm and his Bridesmaids costars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O'Dowd) are married with children and generally miserable. But the protagonists' plan to share parenthood while pursuing separate love lives also brings unhappiness, as their common affection for their little boy pulls them away from their respective lovers (Megan Fox, Edward Burns) and toward a messier, more problematic romance with each other.
