Best-looking tribute to a president

Abraham Lincoln statue in Senn Park

5887 N. Ridge

Seriously, this is one fine Abe Lincoln. A cleverer urban planner might have put this president—and reputed bisexual—along Halsted in place of those tacky rainbow phalli and bestowed on his handsome visage the status of instant gay icon. Instead he languishes on a traffic-heavy corner in Edgewater, ignominiously positioned across the street from a giant car wash—sleeves rolled up, clutching a book, emancipated of top shirt button and shoes, gazing . . . somewhere. Last time I passed by, somebody had painted his big toenails a bright shade of pink. It's nice to know Babe-raham Lincoln's getting some attention. —Sam Worley
