Critics' Picks

Comfort Station, the multidisciplinary arts venue in the heart of Logan Square, screens movies on its front lawn every Wednesday, weather permitting (shows move indoors otherwise). The Comfort Films series—formerly the Logan Square International Film Series—is a welcome alternative to the city's boring Movies in the Park. The programmers opt for classic foreign and art-house films over nostalgia picks like Rudy or Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and the screenings generally attract a more refined audience (people don't get wasted and talk through the entire movie). If you can handle the noisy traffic from adjacent Milwaukee Avenue (which can be soothing in its persistence), there's no better place to see a movie under the stars—er, street lights.
