Clean-cut pranksters The Yes Men, who last week falsely announced on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that the chamber had reversed its opposition to pollution controls, have made a career of impersonating corporate suits to shine a light on the excesses of globalization.
In The Yes Men Fix the World, Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno take on the free market itself. After Bichibaum and Bonanno posed as Dow Chemical reps and took responsibility for a toxic gas leak that killed thousands in Bhopal, India in 1984, Dow's stock plummeted, an example, the Yes Men argue, of how the market discourages companies from doing the right thing.
The Yes Men Fix the World opens Friday 10/30 at the Music Box, 3733 N. Southport. The Yes Men's Lumpen-sponsored appearance is Thursday 10/29 at 7:30 PM at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219-21 S. Morgan.
