At O'Shaughnessy's Public House, Dating For Nerds hosts its Freaks and Geeks Halloween Party, which encourages commingling among shy but well-meaning ghosts and ghouls.
Chicago's own Willis Earl Beal has become something of a household name in the last year—thanks in large part to the efforts of Reader staffer and local music bon vivant Leor Galil. Tonight he opens for Cat Power at the Vic; Xray Eyeballs are also on the bill.
Halloween festivities continue at Challengers Comics, which hosts a pumpkin-carving competition. Pumpkins, carving tools, and stencils are provided, but "space is limited, as are pumpkins"—get there fast.
