Sometimes when you spend a weekend trudging around a chilly and damp Chicago searching for Christmas presents to buy loved ones because you waited too long to start shopping online, it's therapeutic to listen to a band like Boris the Sprinkler. Mostly because the Green Bay pop punkers were so stupid. Stupid in that their zany yet presidential front man, Rev. Norb, wore zebra-print tights and gold lamé body suits and couldn't not write songs that mentioned Taco Bell. Stupid in that they named albums things like Mega Anal and Suck. And stupid in that today's 12 O'Clock Track, "Kill the Ramones," is an irreverent poke at the band that coined the chord progressions to which Boris the Sprinkler bowed.
It's fine, Christmas isn't for another week. You've got plenty of time.
And here's a grainy, battered video of a teenage fan professing her love to Rev. Norb on the old Jenny Jones Show. It's outrageous, the whole scene.
