Thank goodness for LA noise-rap trio Clipping; these dudes make the kind of jagged and creepy tunes I crave after listening to immaculate-sounding indie rock for hours on end. Clipping recently released a tune called "Killer" and, along with fulfilling my desire to hear a lot of harsh and visceral music, it's also today's 12 O'Clock Track.
On "Killer," Clipping cut bubbling beats and ambient synths with harsh feedback and samples of what could be windows breaking—it sounds like a perverse producer decided to remix a Diplo track by chopping it up with glass shards. Clipping MC Daveed Diggs spits at a rapid-fire pace, revving up his flow toward the end of the song without letting out something resembling a scream. Take a listen below; Clipping will release their debut album next week via Deathbomb Arc.
