Re: Liz Armstrong's "Group Efforts: Porno for Tyros," April 27, Section One, page 39.

Bravo to Armstrong for writing about this important group of young "pornographers." They deserve coverage for their intellectual forays into sexplicitness!

You didn't mention the makers' names--we have nothing to hide! Clamp (Maia Cybelle Carpenter), Chingari Chumma (Tejal Shah & Anuj Vaidya), and It's Not a Lie (Liz Miller).

These works have gone on to screen at Ars Electronica Center in Austria, Anthology Film Archives (MIXNYC), the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Montreal Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, the San Francisco Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Pacific Film Archives, and many other international venues.

Despite our success, it has been difficult to find places that accept work which moves beyond the boundaries of traditional porn, explores fantasy, and subverts gender assumptions. This second group (Porn Shot) will no doubt continue paving the way for quality sexplicit work which fulfills a huge gap in the culture of American representations of sex & gender roles. Let's support their efforts!
