Titled "The Matt Lamb Tribute: Celebration of a Lifetime," this show honors painter, peace activist, and CRDT cofounder Matt Lamb with a retrospective that goes back to the 14-year-old company's inaugural season. A new homage to the value and variety of relationships--Home to Me, by CRDT artistic director Wilfredo Rivera--includes projected images of Lamb and his wife, Rose, among those of other couples. Religion takes center stage in two other more recent dances, Trinity of Joann and Four Negro Spirituals. The first, by guest choreographer Michelle Manzanales, tells the story of Chicagoan Joann Montes, who, a decade ago, after finding herself HIV-positive and rejected by her pastor, began a campaign to support other infected Latinas. Working with a recorded score featuring text and singing by Montes, Manzanales deftly incorporates devotional gestures into a convincing portrait of a despairing woman and her community. Rivera's choreography is characteristically upbeat in Four Negro Spirituals, performed--in CRDT’s trademark style--to a live jazz accompaniment by the company band; "This Little Light of Mine" is especially lighthearted, and "Witness" is down-home bluesy. --Laura Molzahn
