Experimental singer-songwriter Haley Fohr, aka Circuit des Yeux, moved to Chicago from Bloomington, Indiana, a few months back, but she's not getting the sort of welcome she should: this weekend someone broke into her car in front of Cole's, near Milwaukee and California, and made off with several hundred dollars' worth of equipment. Stolen items include a brown custom-built 60-watt tube amp with black trim, a ten-watt Gibson practice amp, and a black Gibson acoustic guitar. There's a full list on the Tumblr of her record label, De Stijl, and if you've got any info that might help, you can e-mail Fohr directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It should be no secret that catchy garage-pop trio Tyler Jon Tyler is one of this Wolf's favorite local bands. So it was a sad day when singer-guitarist Rebecca Valeriano-Flores got in touch to say the band was calling it quits due to "natural causes." Thankfully Flores and TJT drummer Tom Cassling are already cranking out new punk tunes with Uh Bones bassist Nick Beaudoin and pal Matt Revers on guitar—and they want your help deciding what to call their band! Gossip Wolf can't offer any prizes, except local music-scene ignominy and maybe a Reader tote bag, so e-mail your suggestions directly to Flores and company at WhatsOurBandName@gmail.com. Keep in mind that Rectal Hygienics is, sadly, taken.
Local bluesy stoner-doom outfit Marmora is a Salazar family affair; made up of three brothers, the band's been kicking up bong-fed instrumental bluster since 2001. The trio's new debut seven-inch on Machine Wash Music is a smoky jammer; check out "Chelas in the Morning" and see if you don't feel thoroughly waked and baked! Marmora plays a release show at Subterranean on Sun 11/18 with Horseburner and Dogs of Fortune.
