By now zombies are nearly as tapped out as emo vampires, but this witty, no-budget British feaure (2008) breathes life into the undead by telling its story from their perspective. Colin (Alastair Kirton), a jean-jacketed Everydude, is fatally bitten and resurrected in the first five minutes; after that, we shamble along with him through the negative socialization process that awaits us all. Cab-driver-turned-director Marc Price has preemptively claimed that the movie cost $70 to produce, which is obvious bullshit, but it's nice to see the genre restored to its poverty-stricken roots. This wouldn't have worked worth a damn, though, if Kirton weren't able to bring the Karloffian pathos.
