Flosstradamus, DJ Sliink 18+ Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Sold Out (Music) Soundboard

When: Sat., Dec. 22, 10 p.m. 2012

Newark native DJ Sliink has his roots in Jersey club music, a hybrid of house and hip-hop known for its up-tempo beats—usually based on a drum break from Lyn Collins's 1972 single "Think (About It)"—and vocal samples diced into near incomprehensibility. But his recent DJ mixes and remixes, plus of course original work such as his Vibrate EP (BodyHigh), prove that he's defined less by any particular style than by a taste for dance-floor futurism in all its forms. Sliink's remix of Frank Ocean's "Pyramid" is a surprisingly subtle and atmospheric hybrid of modern rap beats and vintage rave synths, and Vibrate's five tracks explore relatively exotic sounds—dancehall, moombahton, Dutch hardstyle—from a singularly Jersey-fied perspective. —Miles Raymer Flosstradamus headlines.
