Help for Porno Models?

To the editors:

Thank you for publishing Fran Zell's cover story about rehabilitation opportunities for prostitutes [July 31]. I'm sure there are many who would rather not think about such things, since it is in the interest of many to keep women in prostitution.

I've been wondering if there isn't a similar need for rehabilitation opportunities for pornography models. Frequently, pornography models start practicing their trade in childhood, some are the children of prostitutes or drug addicts, and most have a long history of being abuse victims. The trade may be more "legitimate" than prostitution by some standards, but it may be that the abuses are just as severe. In both cases, a lack of consideration allows more and more people to hurt themselves for someone else's sake.
