Writer/director Edward Burns (Sidewalks of New York, The Brothers McMullen), who shot this sly comedy on his home turf in TriBeCa, stars as a personal trainer who's newly married to doe-eyed Caitlin Fitzgerald, a restaurant manager whose night shift limits their time together. Their serenity is rocked by a surprise visit from his impulsive, alcoholic half-sister (Kerry Bishe), and the marital problems of Fitzgerald's shrewish older sister (Marsha Dietlein Bennett). Burns's faux-documentary style allows space for some wickedly revealing confessions, while jump cuts accentuate his characters' rapid-fire showdowns. An ode to New Yorkers, the movie's clearly in the vein of vintage Woody Allen, but with an Irish Catholic spin. With Max Baker and Dara Coleman.
