Artist Kara Walker says the life-size, cutout silhouettes she creates function like stereotypes: "The silhouette says a lot with very little information." With her artistic eye fixed on race, violence, gender, and, specifically, The Turner Diaries—known as the "bible of the racist right"—Walker's silhouettes are meant to expose what lurks in our cultural shadows. The exhibit "Rise Up Ye Mighty Race!" is on display through August 11.
