Chef-owner Anthony Barnabiente, whose father, Ottavio, owns Fornello Trattoria and whose sister Antonella owns La Donna, carries on the family tradition of serving better-than-average Italian food in a casual and inviting room. This one is simple, with exposed-brick walls, tin ceilings, and hardwood floors, but it's energized by a loyal neighborhood following. There's sidewalk seating, as well as a back room from which private parties frequently spill into the main dining area. A menu board hangs near the front door listing specials like tagliolini mare e moti (wide noodles with shrimp and scallops in a light red sauce), cotoletta alla Milanese (a massive pounded and breaded veal chop covered with a mix of arugula and cherry tomatoes), and tuna carpaccio topped with pungent whole red peppercorns and juniper berries. Service is professional and friendly.
