Clotheshorse and relationship journalist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) frets that her marriage to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) is going stale when, on their second anniversary, he presents her with a nice plasma-screen TV instead of more fucking jewelry. She's still worrying about this as she and her gal pals fly to Abu Dhabi to be pampered by pretty, servile young men in an ultra-luxurious hotel, though their idyll of shopping, champagne, spa treatments, and leering single-entendres abruptly explodes when randy Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and a handsome Danish architect violate local standards of decency on the hotel beach. Thanks to writer-director Michael Patrick King, I now have a fair idea how it might feel to be stoned to death with scented candles.
