Cullen Hoback directed this documentary about phone and online surveillance in the wake of 9/11 and the Patriot Act, arguing that, thanks in part to the loose privacy policies of sites like Google and Facebook, the Internet has become nothing more than a massive government spy tool. Hoback also explores the various wiretapping schemes of the National Security Administration, showing how Americans are essentially monitored at all times. The film presents some worthwhile information, but in a painfully uncreative manner: text-heavy graphics and clips from movies and TV shows provide visual accompaniment for his rhetoric; the rest is mostly uninspired talking-head interviews.
