The End of Love
In this intimate low-budget drama, a financially strapped actor struggles to raise his toddler-aged son after the unexpected death of his wife. Writer-director Mark Weber stars as a fictionalized version of himself, and his authentic interaction with his own young son onscreen lends to the film's naturalism. Far less engaging emotionally are Weber's awkward courtship of a single mom (Shannyn Sossamon) and his fair-weather friendships with members of Young Hollywood (Aubrey Plaza, Michael Cera, and Amanda Seyfried appear as themselves). Creative people often mistakenly assume that the trials of their profession are compelling.
