The second annual First Nations Native American Film and Video Festival will be held at Facets Multimedia, 1517 W. Fullerton, on Saturday and Sunday, November 20 and 21. Tickets are $5; $3 for Facets members. For further information call 907-4667 or 784-0808.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20

Foster Child

and Navajo Talking Picture

Gil Cardinal's Foster Child (1987) follows the filmmaker's search at age 35 for his natural family; Arlene Bowman's Navajo Talking Picture (1986) is her attempt to document the traditional life of her Navajo grandmother, who refuses to cooperate. (1:00)

Surviving Columbus

A 1992 video documentary made for TV about the history of the Pueblos before and after contact with Europeans. (1:00)

Imagining Indians

A documentary by Victor Masayesva Jr. about "the appropriating and merchandising of Native American culture and artifacts by white society," which delves into such subjects as the making of Dances With Wolves and the overall significance of what might be termed Indian chic (1992). (3:00)

Melanie Printup Hope's Out of One We Are Many and I Turn My Head, a song-and-dance variety show called Indian Time II/Fly With Eagles (1992), and Follow Your Heart's Desire (1991), a performance piece featuring Pure Fe. (3:00)

A feature-length documentary by Alanis Obomsswin about the confrontation between Mohawks and the Canadian army in Kanehsatake, Quebec, in July 1990. (7:00)
