I guess having something like five different bands and bartending at the Rainbo isn't enough to keep Tim Kinsella sufficiently busy -- he recently started making movies on the side. He won the Made in Chicago award at this year's Chicago Underground Film Festival for A Lover's Discourse, a five-minute short, and now he's finishing up another film he wrote and directed, Orchard Vale. I'm not sure what it's about, but the promo poster has this tagline:

The apocalypse won't be a single moment or event, but instead it will be a gray scale from inside of which people will not be able to recognize in which shades they themselves are living.

I'm taking that to mean Kinsella is keeping it weirdo and not giving us the indie-rock adaptation of In the Mix that we've all been hoping for.

Tomorrow night at 10 PM Tim et crew are having a party at Rodan to help cover the film's postproduction expenses. They'll screen the trailer, and Lichens and Children vs. the Children of Doom will join forces for a live performance. Donations are requested.
