Two more lists to dispense with in my extended look back at 2006. I won't fabricate any overriding themes for the year, except to say that it became patently clear that the models for music consumption are shifting faster than ever. I'm still holding on to the old-fashioned mediums (LPs and, yes, those antiquated CDs), but I'm also downloading more than ever, though not from conventional sources like iTunes or eMusic. No, for me the most exciting development was the proliferation of MP3 blogs offering whole albums, most of them rare and out-of-print. While these sites may force niche reissue labels to wonder why they bother, the explosion was a real godsend for hard-core music fans.

Anyway, on to the final two lists. Please note: I excluded box sets from the reissues, otherwise This Heat would've been at the top.
