Update on the bad queso incident. The owner of the Aurora carniceria where the tainted cheese was found reported that he'd bought the stuff off the back of a truck, and that he'd been doing it for years. That's not terribly earthshaking, but I mention it so I can quote the Kane County Health Department again, which seems like it has a particular talent for issuing ridiculous statements. Said a spokesman to the Sun-Times:
"There is a cultural aspect; something wrapped in Saran Wrap looks like its fresh so some people might think it's better than some processed cheese food."
