Tonight's a big night for locals Bumpus, who after a decade are playing their first headlining gig at Metro. This large neo-soul band has always deserved to be known for more than launching Rachel Yamagata (it'd probably help if they released more than one album every six years). Usually content to come off as a thinking-man's party band for Wrigleyville drunks, they sound relatively mordant on their latest, All the People (AEMMP). Populist-protest grooves burble in a smoking crockpot of organ and wah, though the group's small army of singers (particularly Ava Fain) is still tragically underutilized. You might still be able to download some discount tickets at their MySpace page.
