Mario Batali hates food bloggers.
Unfortunately, what could have been some useful perspective from the restaurateur's point of view is instead a pretty ill-considered rant devoted mostly to setting the record straight about a dispute with his landlord--a dispute reported originally in the New York Post in January 2006 and repeated by the blogs that depend on the MSM for content. Who's at fault? The Post, for perhaps falling asleep on the fact checking; the blogs, for parroting the bad information; the Eater editor who green-lit Batali's ax-grinding; the 49-and-counting self-satisfied commenters at the site . . .
Meh. What the whole kerfuffle (sorry Mike!) seems to best illuminate is how much of a zero-sum game the Internet makes any discussion.
