Heads Up: This week and beyond, part 2

The third annual World Festival to benefit Common Threads, celebrating food from around the world, is Monday from 6 to 9 PM at the Museum of Contemporary Art. In addition to dishes from notable local chefs, there'll be a Chinese dragon dance, Indian henna tattoo art, a Japanese tea ceremony, mariachis, and Korean drumming.  $250 general admission; the $500 VIP ticket also includes admission to an after party hosted by Paula Deen of the Food Network. 

ChicaGourmets hosts Ole to Mole (PDF), a four-course dinner at Sol de Mexico, which specializes in mole, Monday at 6:30 PM. $59.  

The Chicago Food Policy's third annual summit is Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM at the Cultural Center's Gar Hall. Among the session topics: the Food, Farms and Jobs Act, and "Establishing a Green Business District in Englewood." $20.

Judy Hazelden presents Tea for Two, a history of high tea with demonstrations on preparing finger sandwiches and scones with jam and cream, Wednesday at 4 PM at the Chicago Public Library's Manning branch. Reservations required.

Gallery Cafe hosts the free talk Coffee 101: An Introduction to Coffee and Fair Trade, presented by Ted Erski, author of Salavandra: A Coffee Tale, Wednesday from 7:30-9 PM. He’ll cover fair-trade pricing and labeling, sustainable consumption, and the differences between the two main species of coffee, Arabica and Robusta.
