Commenced by a parade of storybook characters including Mother Goose, Curious George, and the Stinky Cheese Man, the 57th St. Children's Book Fair is more than a market for children's books, it's a venue for free child-friendly entertainment. Three stages will host a range of performers throughout the day, including the Emerald City Theatre, Jazz on the Wood, seasoned mime and storyteller Chris Fascione, and drummer and storyteller Oba William King. Free crafts tables will also be set up, including a crown-making booth run by Columbia College. The fair runs from 1 to 6 PM along 57th street, between Kimbark and Dorchester; and along Kimbark, between 56th and 57th.
