Senate Republicans torched the auto bailout bill, setting up an entertaining political dynamic where the minority party filibustered to death a bill supported not only by the Democrats, but also by the epically lame duck Republican president, who apparently wants to stay out of the Warren Harding Memorial Sub-Basement of Infamy and may dig into the TARP cushions for whatever's left.
Were it not for the possibility of midwestern financial apocalypse, it would be entertaining. What will happen? A new Depression, followed by the Republicans becoming a long-term regional party? Stay tuned.
Only vaguely related: I know GRod is pretty entertaining, but dude check this guy out.
Update: Randy Picker asks if it's permissable to use TARP money for the auto companies.
