Half of the state's grant-making organizations expect to give out less money next year, according to a new report from Donors Forum titled Economic Outlook 2009. Surveyed in October, the donors -- including foundations and corporate charities -- cited their own diminished assets as the reason they'll be cutting back.  According to Donors Forum, one in 12 Illinois workers is employed by a non-profit, so these cuts are likely to be a double whammy: adding significantly to the rolls of the unemployed while reducing help available for the needy. Don't say we didn't warn you.
