In conjunction with its current exhibition "The Aztec World,"  the Field Museum has coordinated Taste of the Aztec World. Through Saturday 1/17, 16 local restaurants will be serving dishes and cocktails inspired by the cuisine of the Aztec empire (some more exotic than others).

Chef-inventor Homaro Cantu, known for innovations like the edible ink-and-paper menus at his restaurant Moto, discusses science, technology, and food with scientist Linda Kawano, his partner in Cantu Designs, in a presentation titled "The Chemistry of Cooking." Martha Bayne's new Soup and Bread project has gotten a lot of well-deserved attention in the past couple weeks (and will be on again at the Hideout this Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM), but it's not the only free soup in town. The Hull House Kitchen's weekly Rethinking Soup lunch this week features a talk by "tofu master" Yoshiharu Ochida as well as tofu soup. noon-1:30, Jane Addams Hull-House Museum Residents' Dining Hall, 800 S. As part of its week-long Vodka Fest (1/12-1/18) featuring specials on cocktails made with Divine Vodka, Brasserie Jo is offering a Vodka 101 class.
