Ride to Pierogifest, a farm dinner, a talk on olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and more.


In celebration of its decision to serve exclusively Goose Island beer, Ina’s is hosting "The Chicken and the Goose," a three-course fried chicken dinner paired with flights of Goose Island regular and reserve brews chosen by the brewmasters, who’ll be in attendance. Heritage Prairie Market's monthly farm dinner tonight is French-themed, "in the spirit of Bastille Day." A 6 PM reception and farm tour is followed by a dinner that includes charcuterie, vichyssoise, ratatouille, and local cheeses. BYOB. 2N308 Brundige Road, Elburn, 630-443-8253, $65.


The annual ride to PierogiĀ­fest, just under 40 miles round trip between Chicago and Whiting, Indiana, goes at a “touring” pace of about 12 to 14 miles per hour. The festival (which runs Fri-Sun) features a pierogi-eating contest, a pierogi toss, polka bands, and more. BYO water and bike lock. At the talk When Extra Virgin Olive Oil Wed Balsamic Vinegar, the Rest Was History Rick Petrocelly, owner of the Olive Tap in Long Grove and an advocate for legislation to establish consistent labeling standards, discusses the history of olive oil and balsamic vinegar (with samples).
