Share Our Strength's annual fund-raiser to alleviate childhood hunger, Taste of the Nation, features food and drinks from more than 25 local chefs and mixologists, including Michael Sheerin (Blackbird), Ryan Poli (Perennial), Bill Kim (Urban Belly), Paul Virant (Vie), Bridget Albert, Peter Vestinos, and Debbi Peek. 6-10 PM, Ravenswood Billboard Factory, 4025 N. Quenchers celebrates its 30th anniversary by hosting a North Coast Brewing Night with drafts and flights of Le Merle Farmhouse Ale, Old Stock Ale, Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, Red Seal Ale, and PranQster Golden Ale. An event within the event, a vertical tasting of barrel-aged Old Rasputin (10th, 11th, and 12th anniversary editions) and Old Stock Ale (2007, 2008, and 2009) is currently sold out, but space could open up if there are cancellations. 7-9 PM, 2401 N. ChicaGourmets hosts a four-course dinner with wine pairings at Merlo on Maple featuring celery with gorgonzola, tagliatelle with bolognese sauce, and veal with prosciutto and parmesan. 6:30 PM, 16 W. Maple, 312-335-8200, $99.


Josh Rutherford and Eric McCrory will demonstrate how to grill like Smoke Daddy in a class that also includes a meal of a half-slab of baby back ribs, roasted peppers, grilled steak fries, and a couple Coronas per person. 8 PM, Smoke Daddy, 1804 W. Division, 773-772-6656, $30.

Uncommon Ground on Devon hosts a dinner to benefit Slow Food Chicago, beginning with a cocktail reception on its organic rooftop garden followed by a three-course dinner featuring a beet salad, apricot-and-mustard-glazed pork loin, and a peach and blueberry napoleon. 6 PM, 1401 W.
