Wood, who moved to Chicago in the 70s to study under Stan Brakhage at the School of the Art Institute, returned to filmmaking in 2004. The Smell of Death has its world premiere in Silver Traces, a retrospective of his work tonight, Friday 8/21 in the White Light Cinema series at The Nightingale.
The Smell of Death screens alongside three more of Wood's experimental works from the 70s: Between Glances, The Bridge of Heaven, and Frozen Flight.
Silver Traces is Friday 8/21 at 8 PM at The Nightingale, 1084 N. Milwaukee. Wood will introduce the films via webcam. $7-10 sliding scale.
