For bikers keen on reliving history, there are two options this Sunday:
Lincoln Square Bicycle Tour: From 1 to 5 PM, a narrated tour will explore the northwest side community of Lincoln Square and its neighborhoods, including Ravenswood, Bowmanville, and Budlong Woods, focusing on the area’s history and architecturally significant buildings. Part of a monthly series of tours cohosted by Big Shoulders Realty (which promises not to include any pitches or marketing info) and the local online cycling forum the Chainlink. Meets at East River Park, 5100 N. Francisco.
Lakefront Vision Ride: This ride conjures the spirit of a wrathful Daniel Burnham in protest against Lake Shore Drive's violation of the 'free and clear' shoreline that Burnham supposedly advocated. "Chicago's premier Daniel Burnham and Montgomery Ward impersonators" join in on the ride. Sponsored by the Campaign for a Free and Clear Lakefront, which is working to remove Lake Shore Drive from the Chicago shoreline. Meets at Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington) at 2 PM.
