Veteran Broadway dancer Ann Reinking is teaming up with Thodos Dance Chicago for Fosse Trilogy, a suite of short dances by Chicago-born director-choreographer Bob Fosse—Reinking's mentor and onetime lover. The work will be part of TDC's performances November 13 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts and November 28 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.
Reinking is probably best known for her work on the hugely successful 1996 revival of Fosse's musical Chicago, which she choreographed in the style of her late partner. She also conceived and co-directed Fosse, the 1999 Broadway revue of numbers from such Fosse stage and screen efforts as Chicago, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, and All That Jazz. Other Reinking credits include cochoreographing Goodman Theatre's 1988 "revisal" of the 1940 Rodgers and Hart classic Pal Joey.
Fosse Trilogy comprises three short dances: "Cool Hand Luke," "Mexican Breakfast," and "Tijuana Shuffle." Also on the program: the Chicago premiere of Driven by TDC founder Melissa Thodos, Brock Clawson's Nine, Ron De Jesus's Departurepoint, and three dances from TDC's "New Dances 2009" choreography performance series (Wade Schaaf's Awakening, Architecture: Splintered and Cracked by Jessica MillerTomlinson, and Reflect by Mollie Mock and Jeremy Blair).
