Four Ibero-American filmmakers with movies in the Chicago International FIlm Festival discuss their work and its place in international cinema in New Voices From the Americas, a free panel discussion Monday 10/12 at AMC River East.

Participating filmmakers are Paulo Pons, director of the Brazilian thriller Revenge; Mariano de Rosa, director of the Argentinian paranoid family drama Green Waters; Adrián Biniez, director of the Uruguayan romance Gigante; and Eduardo Valente, director of the Brazilian crime drama Eye of the Storm. Documentarian Michael Rabiger, former chair of the Columbia College film department, moderates.

New Voices From the Americas is Monday 10/12 at 3:30 PM at AMC River East, 322 E. Illinois. Like all the festival's panels, it's free, but you need to pick up a free ticket at the festival box office, which could take a while, so arrive early.

Revenge screens 10/12 at 8:15 PM (with Pons in attendance) and Thursday, 10/15 at 3 PM.
Green Waters screens Tuesday 10/13 at 6:15 PM and Wednesday 10/14 at 8:30 PM (with de Rosa) and Friday Oct. 16 at 4:15 PM.
Gigante screens 10/12 at 5:30 PM, and 10/13 at 8:40 PM and 10/14 at 3:45 PM (with Biniez).
Eye of the Storms screens 10/13 at 8 PM and 10/14 at 3:30 PM.

All films are at AMC River East. Night screenings $12; matinees $5. Many screenings sell out so buy tickets in advance. With or without advance tickets, plan for long lines at the festival box office.
