As part of National Opera Week, Chicago Opera Theater offers two one-act operas and a variety of street performances over the next week.
"Pop-Up Opera," a series of short performances of classic opera selections, will take place throughout the city at yet-to-be-disclosed times and locations from November 14 to 20. Hints will be given on COT's Web site and Twitter feed.
Friday 11/20 at 6:30 PM at the Chicago Cultural Center's Preston Bradley Hall, there's a double bill of one-act operas: Jake Heggie's At the Statue of Venus and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's Susanna's Secret. Chicago Opera Theater's Leila Bowie, Catalina Cuervo, and Martin Woods are the featured performers.
