Show: Guillermo Gregorio & the Madi Ensemble The penultimate concert of this year's Latino Music Festival, which began in September, is by the Madi Ensemble, a group founded by Argentine composer and reedist Guillermo Gregorio to honor South America's nearly forgotten classical avant-garde, which has historically been aware of but distinct from its European and North American counterparts. The work of artists' collectives like Arte Madi and Arte Concreto Invencion, both formed in the mid-40s, often overlaps in conception with this music, and to underscore those connections, images of paintings, sculptures, and hybrid works will be screened during the performance.

Dinner: Cibo Matto could pass as Spiaggia’s more playful, easygoing younger sibling. "What’s more, for every marquee item that delivered, I probably enjoyed two unheralded but quietly excellent dishes, beginning with a bowl of peppery bucatini carbonara with cured tomatoes, chiles, and a brilliant orb of duck yolk mixed in at the table--one of the greatest riffs on the classic I’ve ever had," writes Mike Sula.

Show: Rempis/Rosaly Because saxophonist Dave Rempis and drummer Frank Rosaly are half of the splendid Rempis Percussion Quartet, you might imagine you'd only get half as much music from just the two of them. But the duo format actually affords them more freedom to explore divergent styles and dynamic extremes than they have in the RPQ.

Dinner: Turquoise Cafe Prices at this Roscoe Village Turkish restaurant are a little higher than at many ethnic places. But dishes like the sogurme (smoked chunks of eggplant in creamy yogurt with lots of garlic), seafood salad, and the house salad (a piquant medley of red cabbage, arugula, red onion, and romaine lettuce in a lemon herb dressing) are worth a little extra.

Show: Coco Before Chanel Fashion is so consistently portrayed as a measure of money and status that one can easily forget it’s a means of personal expression, which may be the reason this biopic of French designer Coco Chanel is so satisfying.

Dinner: Wally and Agador's Gourmet Cafe Classically trained French chef Michael Lachowicz (Restaurant Michael) has opened a tiny new storefront offering truly gourmet sandwiches with ingredients such as chicken sausage with dried huckleberries, lobster-scallop sausage, and sous-vide leg of lamb with goat cheese.

Show: The Road John Hillcoat, who made a name for himself with the leathery Australian western The Proposition (2005), takes on the daunting task of adapting Cormac McCarthy's bleak novel about a man and his son trying to survive in a postapocalyptic U.S. Portrayed ad infinitum in sci-fi and fantasy, the postapocalypse may now seem about as scary as Post Raisin Bran, but Hillcoat gives it an unnerving solidity by focusing on the drab details of survival and linking them to the more hellish aspects of modern American life.

Show: Lunatic(a)s The first incarnation of this show—a collection of short pieces about the drive-you-crazy vicissitudes of being young and Latina in the city—was a hit for Teatro Luna in 2007. Now the company has brought it back with some new material, and it should be a hit again.

Dinner: Cafe Central More than 50 years old, this family-owned cafe serves an extensive menu of traditional Puerto Rican favorites and lots of seafood. On weekends the cafe is crowded with families, many of whom come for the specials, such as bacalao guisado (codfish stew), mondongo (tripe soup), and, for those craving the flavors of the old country, cuchifrito (fried pig's ears).
