There's no dearth of gift-shopping opportunities this weekend:
Today from 11 to 8 the city holds its annual Glitter event, featuring work by local fashion designers and wares from area boutiques, including Elda De La Rosa Couture, Tonya Gross Millinery, and Zola Jones Designs. It's in the Chicago Cultural Center's Preston Bradley Hall.
Today's also the first day of the One of a Kind Show and Sale at the Merchandise Mart, where more than 500 artisans—including fashion, accessory, and jewelry designers—will show off handcrafted original work. Tickets, which are good through Sunday, are $12, $9 for seniors and students, and free for kids under 12.
Sofia Vintage kicks off two days of events tonight with a holiday party and trunk show for jewelry and accessory designers ELTIF Designs, Meredith Marks, Chel.C, and Adrienne Baskin. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. It's from 5:30 to 9:30 at the Sofia Vintage space. Then on Friday evening the store is putting on a vintage fashion show as part of the second annual Warhol Factory Party at Lumen. Fifteen percent of proceeds from the evening's sales will go to the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation. RSVP to email@example.com to attend a private cocktail reception from 9 to 10:30.
The Southport Stroll takes place Friday from 5 to 9 PM. Participating boutiques include Krista K, which is also holding a trunk show for local line Sway Jewelry, and Tula, which is featuring a collection of gift items for the home from its sister store, Panache, in Grand Haven, Michigan.
On Saturday, Fashion Rocks Chicago and SeeMoreShopping host a Fashion and Shopping Extravaganza at Creative Lounge Chicago in Wicker Park. Look for gifts from local designers, including Evil Kitty, CCBella, and K-Fleye. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
