Hosted by WXRT's Lin Brehmer and Marty Lennartz, the Rock for Kids 21st Annual Rock & Roll Auction will put an impressive stash of goodies up for bid—including autographed instruments, posters, and albums—beginning at 7 PM tonight at Park West (322 W. Armitage). Proceeds from the auction benefit Rock for Kids, a local nonprofit organization that provides free year-round musical education to what it calls "underserved" children and teens.
Autographed items up for bid include guitars from AC/DC, Cheap Trick, and Kings of Leon; a baseball bat signed by Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, and Willie Nelson; a Born to Run LP from Bruce Springsteen; a photo from Elvis Costello; a tour book from Hall & Oates; a Raw Power LP from the Stooges; an art print from Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh; a handwritten set list and LP copy of Break Up the Concrete from the Pretenders; and a package from the Swell Season that includes tickets to see the duo's January performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
Tickets for the evening are $30, $25 in advance, or $75 for the VIP package, which includes a 6 PM party with food, drinks, and an auction preview.
