Think the lines at Xoco are long? Imagine what they'd be like if the food were free. You can find out next week just how bad the lines for free food prepared by Rick Bayless can get: Epicurious reports that Ketel One is sending trucks to New York, Chicago, and LA that'll give out "complimentary gourmet food." The chef for Chicago's event is Bayless, who'll be cooking tacos and tortas. The Ketel One Canteen will be located on Rush between Bellevue and Cedar from midnight to 2 AM December 10-12, and Ketel One is also offering free rides home in "high-end vehicles" (first come, first served).
The menu for Chicago:
Pork Tinga Tacos: Shredded pork, guacamole, and queso fresco cheese served in a soft taco
Roasted Poblano and Potato Tacos: Roasted poblano peppers, Yukon gold potatoes. and roasted tomatillo salsa served in a soft taco
Black Bean and Chorizo Tortas: Chorizo sausage, black beans, avocado and salsa served on a crusty roll
Black Bean, Caramelized Onions, and Beef Tortas: Black beans, caramelized onions, shredded beef, and queso fresco cheese served on a crusty roll
