Tonight the French restaurant Bistro Bordeaux opened in the former La Petite Amelia space up in Evanston. The owner, Pascal Berthoumieux, is a native of the region and plans on stocking fine Bordeaux wines in addition to a list of reasonably priced selections. The chef, Frank Mnuk, is a veteran of NoMi and Bouchon, Thomas Keller's restaurant in Yountville, California.
Chef Kendal Duque, formerly of Sepia, is back, working at Cuna, a restaurant and lounge that opened in Lakeview yesterday, offering specialty cocktails priced at $8 and under and an affordable eclectic menu of small and large plates. The kitchen's open till midnight.
Sicily native Giuseppe Scurato (Boka, Landmark, Topaz) and his wife opened Ceres' Table, an Italian and contemporary American restaurant, on Tuesday in the former Monticchio space. It's BYO for now, with a liquor license on the way.
