Came across a headline in the Friday Tribune: "CTA can fire driver who abused child." (Here's a link to the story online, under a different headline.)
First thought into my head: "Yet the Catholic Church cannot."
The CTA can and did. This was back in 2004. The article explained that the dismissal of a driver who'd pleaded guilty to the aggravated sexual abuse of a preteen relative (apparently repeatedly) was challenged by the drivers union and overruled by first an arbitrator and then a circuit judge. But this week the state appellate court ruled that the CTA acted appropriately and within its authority.
Perhaps indignant drivers should find out what union Catholic priests belong to and join it.
