Pitchfork announced the Hold Steady's summer U.S. tour dates this morning—and there's no Chicago stop. Previously, this sort of situation made for a "are they playing Lolla or Pitchfork" guessing game—but since both those lineups have been announced in full, Miles and I had to sleuth it up to figure out what as-yet-unannounced fest THS is going to be headlining here. The date where their Chicago show should fall—between Minneapolis and Omaha on their schedule—is 7/5. So, going by this summer festival rundown, the band must be headlining the African-Caribbean International Festival of Life. We hope that this might actually be the case, as the Festival of Life consistently has the best throwback hip-hop bills of any of the street festivals—and how rad would a Hold Steady/Monie Love bill be?
