Burge: Guilty

On all counts. Given what's known about the incidents in question, I guess I shouldn't be entirely surprised, but keep in mind that what people who have been following the story for years know is much different from what the jury knew, as John Conroy has pointed out.

Relatedly, this has a lot to do with why I picked Conroy for the city's nonfiction writer. If you've just become acquainted with his work through the Burge trial, I can't recommend Unspeakable Acts, Ordinary People: The Dynamics of Torture highly enough.
