The major problem an artist playing an outdoor festival faces is the absence of a room to contain their performance. Without a few walls their sound and whatever vibes they're projecting from the stage tend to dissipate too easily. Dam-Funk's got a deep, dense sound that can survive outside better than most. Crucially he also has an equally strong personality, and it wasn't just the freaky superfans up front wearing space goggles, Afro Mohawks, and Arabian Prince t-shirts who were getting as buck as one can at 4 in the afternoon in exhausting weather. Odds are his performance will end up being a Top 5 highlight of the fest.
