Here's word from Boulder that the University of Colorado is about to eliminate its journalism school. The Daily Camera reports that there's talk on campus of replacing it with some sort of "school of information." There's a wonderfully desperate could-mean-anything ring to that phrase; perhaps a Bachelor of Information will be followed by the most ambitious students with a Master's of Research and a Doctorate in Theory.

But it's the way of the world. The Daily Camera tells us that "more than 30 schools of information, existing under various names, have been created at universities across the country, including the University of California's Berkeley campus, Rutgers, the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Cornell and Carnegie Mellon."
