Well-executed indie pop from Freelance Whales and Candy Claws, the two-man hype machine that is No Age on a bill with fun-time experimental wackos Lucky Dragons, a band of aging punk legends with devil locks and too much makeup—yep, the concert outlook for this fall and winter is shaping up just fine. Other highlights from this week's batch of Early Warnings include Slim Cessna's Auto Club at the Empty Bottle, Daedelus with Gaslamp Killer at Double Door, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti with Os Mutantes at Metro, and Sic Alps with Magik Markers at Ronny's.

New Year's Eve shows are also starting to crop up in the announcements, which I find depressing for some reason. This week does have a winner, though: the Black Keys and the Greenhornes at Aragon Ballroom. But before you can decide which packed, overpriced New Year's Eve show to go to, first you'll have to survive the impending Halloween shenanigans.
