Are You Vogue?

We all knew, but Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld says it out loud in the New York Times' Thursday Styles section this week: "Vogue is a very specific world. You are Vogue, or not Vogue. There are some editors and writers who can be very good, and still not Vogue."

As much as Roitfeld seems to live in a rarefied world of style removed from life's mundane demands, her quotes show that in some ways, at least, she can be just like us: "Sometimes I think, Why do I have to go to a [fashion] show? Half an hour driving, half an hour waiting, seeing the show, then half an hour back. And when I get back, I see the show on the Internet."
